It was only a matter of time...for Oleg and I.

It was only a matter of time before the Collingwood Football Club got a mention in our business blog. BUT....WAIT....STOP don't go just yet, I didn't mean to put you off so quickly. Lol.

So as probably just about anyone who follows me on social media knows I'm a passionate Collingwood supporter (probably too passionate for some ) and whilst I was watching the game on the weekend I couldn't help but notice a particular player that had a profound affect not just on his team mates but also on all who witnessed his actions, no less than a 40,000 crowd at Marvel stadium and the millions on TV.

Oleg Markov, is in no way a super star of the club or the competition and someone who hasn't played another game this year. Due to some other players not being available at the last moment he got a call from the coach as he was at Bunnings on Saturday afternoon. "Yes coach - whatever you need"

You see Oleg whils't not the best player in the team is one of those people that is celebrating life and everything that is thrown at him. His team mates (and the wider footy community) love him for it. He played in this weeks game and lo and behold kicked a goal that any AFL player would've been extremely proud of. Then his celebration was child like, and totally meant to be. He was mimicking his son Lenny who only recently learnt to walk. However the celebration wasn't a fleeting moment it went on with his laughter and interaction with the whole team. They clearly love him for it. And love being around him.

Long Markov
Oleg Markov celebrating his goal

"I'm just just really grateful to be here, I'm just having fun (and) all the boys know that. I dont kick many goals; I would've done the "baby cradle", but he's already starting to walk. He throws his hands up, and he marches. That's to my little one, Lenny!"

And from the coach Craig McRae post match "He's got a great personality.....I just thought: "Geez, I love coaching this kid". It doesnt matter what it is, he'll come in and do it. And then he gets to the ground and says: "I couldn't hear a word you said!"

And so the take away? Your tone and outlook has a profound affect on those around you. Are you cognizant of what affect your passing onto others? Be the happy one, be the one celebrating life and helping those in your team. Treat life as a game and watch your own mood rise and so a greater enjoyment of life for yourself and those you come in contact with. In fact just be like Oleg.
